    Britten Motorcycles

    Anyone else remember them?

IMO the most beautiful and exciting bikes of the 90s....and I say that as a fan of the Ducati 916. It's such a shame that the company didn't really survive the death of John Britten. I always wonder if things might have been different had Mark Farmer not decided to do a final practice lap that day in June '94.

Well, in typical Gallic style those look fabulous, but I venture to suggest that bunging single sided swingers on various flavours of Yamaha is not quite as impressive as building a stunning racing motorcycle from the ground up with a permanent staff of 8.

That's what makes it so incredible for me, not only was the chassis completely revolutionary (to this day it could still be considered cutting edge) but it was built around an engine that Britten designed and built themselves, an engine that produced 150+bhp, which would probably still keep you midfield in a superbike race even today.
