    Changing wiper blade

I just changed my wiper blades and as it was my first time, The £2 wilko wiper blades took me over an hour and I still had no luck, until I did some Youtubing!

1 Lift your wiper arm and make sure the wiper is perpendicular to the arm.
2 Remove the wiper from the arm carefully and then very very slowly let the arm rest on the windscreen
3 If you need to remove the adapter from your old wiper, follow the video and use two thumbs behind the adapter to push it out
    https://youtu.be/T8i80mqesFE
4 Push in the adapter onto the new wiper blade
5 Reattach the wiper blade to the arm and voila!

    Re: Changing wiper blade

These days you usually just clip a whole new blade assembly onto the end of the arm, very fast and easy job but adds a lot of cost. I think you get a better blade though.

Please note that wiper blades on the two sides of the car are not always the same size. I bought a car where the wipers were rubbish, until I realised what had happened and swapped them around.

For really bad rain I do like RainX, but has to be the proper stuff not the glass cleaner. A quick coating, and you can ignore the wipers as the rain just runs off.

I did use a universal wiper blade kit for the rear wiper on my current hatchback. Those things tend to wipe as much road grime as rain so don't last that long, so I thought it made sense to go cheap.

So many people get this wrong, it's almost hilarious watching folks struggle outside Halfrauds etc. The crucial bit is making sure your wiper is perpendicular to the arm, so many instructions fail to mention this or show it diagrams.

Not many can get it right at the first time you know so there is nothing 'hilarious' about you can't do something you don't know. Lucky i got my brother who got a garage so everything is easy

Mine were like that. Checked side of box, had a 3 diagrams, had them swapped in under a minute.

    Re: Changing wiper blade

I've smashed at least 3 windscreens while hurrying this process.. letting the wiper arm spring down with no blade on and BOSH.... destroyed screen.

    Re: Changing wiper blade

In some cars like the VW's you have to park the wipers in the upright position by using a wiper arm pressed once with ignition keyfob in. There are lots of YouTube videos out there which show you how to do this. Also I have found Euro cararts quite good value for good brand wipers such as Bosch and Valeo. Also, on onvideo hey ccourage you to put a towel or padding on windscreen in case you let go of the wiper arm and it happens to hit the windscreen and cause some damage.
