nah iirc the bda engine was designed by cosworth for use in capri's, but found its way into the mk1 escort after ford decided a v6 capri would be better

Belt Driven (Type) A.
Cosworth development based on the 1600 X FLow iron block, with new head/pistons crank and the like. It was the replacment for the lotus twin cam.
IIRC it ended up as a 2 litre lump with an alloy block.
