    Had to be done.

Tonight for the first time I reported another driver.

Now I'm no anti-speeding zealot, I have no problem with the right foot being firmly planted when the conditions and the road deem it safe to do so, but this guy is going to kill someone soon.

I live on a 30mph road, opposite a primary school in a relatively quiet area of Slough, aside from the school its a residential road with a park at the end, now I appreciate at 6pm this isn't exactly the time you would see kids out playing or being picked up from school, but this still is a residential road, not the fast lane of the M4

Not that it bothers this guy.

Every evening he uses our road, you can hear him coming half a mile away, similar to the D-Day Anniversary Airshow at Duxford when the 2 minutes silence was punctuated by the dull roar of a Tornado F3 arriving in the distance..

Its a nice car - I'll give him that, Honda Civic Type R in bright shiny red, as he passes the speed restriction posts half way down the road he REALLY puts his foot down, and at this point it gets VERY noisy, by the time he's past our front door I'm damn sure he's knocking on the 70 mph barrier, its a quiet road (was) , no traffic, must be like a drag strip to him.

Tonight I had enough, I've had his reg for months and as I was about to close my front door he roared past in his usual attempt to break the land speed record, that was it, called the local Police station and reported him as a dangerous driver.

now I don't know if anything will come of this, but I want this pillock off the roads, I don't care if he kills himself, but sooner or later if he keeps this up he's going to kill someone else, and this kind of bl00dy selfish and dangerous behavior makes me see red, and I sure as hell won't put up with it happening 6 ft from my front door.

The contact I spoke to seemed very helpful, and when I enquired what exactly could be done he seemed confident that the matter will be investigated, hell, probably not, maybe I'm not the first to do this about this driver, maybe this will be the final nail in his coffin, whatever.

Whatever happens, I feel a damn site better for doing it.

Sounds like it certainly had to be done .

At least you've done your bit, whether anything will be done is a different matter.

And good on you for doing it, i've thought about it several times in the past myself. Some people have no comprehension of the scale of damage that can be caused by the vehicle they are driving. Will be interested to know if you hear (or see) anything come of this.

Good on ya mate. I used to live (at my mum's house) on a long, straight and fairly quiet 30 limit residential street. Quite regularly you'd see or hear a car go past the junction halfway down at at least 50, possibly 60mph. And who was doing this? Panda cars from the police vehicle depot down the road. No sirens or lights obviously.

At one point I was seriously considering setting up a measuring point with some sticks at the junction (we lived on the corner) and then using my video camera to work out their speed from the amount of time it took them to pass from one to the other. Then I could send the video to the local paper or something. Never got round to it though.

I just done a similar thing. I live in a quiet cul-de-sac that backs on to another cul-de-sac which are joined by a public path which runs along the side of the border to our property. Now a lot of the kids from the local estate have had them electric scooters, petrol scooters and mini-motos for xmas. You can see where this is going, right?

Yup - coming home one night about 8pm just turned into our road and had to swerve onto the curb to avoid 2 electric scooters on the road in pitch black with no lights on

Then to make matters worse as I pulled onto my drive I could hear the distant buzz of a hair-dryer powered mini-moto - which then proceeded to do laps of the 2 cul-de-sacs with no lights or helmet.

Then the constant drone of the engine woke our baby up - the final straw! A phone call to the police soon followed.

Now I ride a motorbike and can appreciate the thrill as well as the next man - but these things are darn dangerous on the road - not only to the rider but to other road users. It seems the law is unclear (or not clear enough) about these things....

Have the same problem here, some *ahem* in a TT loves flooring it up my quiet road that is only 250m long every single day at 6.15pm, im going to shove a mannequin in his path one day and test his brakes.

I speed, but not in quiet town roads with old people and kids trying to cross the road.

there's a road near where i live which is meant to be a 30.. everyone does 40+ (because its off a road which is 40, and is pretty wide) but you get idiots going 50+ which is excessive... my mum called the police about it - asked if they could put anything like a speed camera there to catch some people.. nope they couldnt because there hasnt been an accident there. wtf? not yet no, but there is a huge amount of potential...

A week has passed, and he hasn't been past, at least if he has, I haven't heard him.

    Coincidence?
