    My respray (picture heavy)

So my mate who owns a spray shop if moving to bigger and better things in Dubai and before he goes I was begging him to get the MG sorted (especially after someone reversed into me in PC Worlds car park) There was also a few bits of rust starting to show and the inevitable car park dings...

So a week ago Saturday it went to my mate to work his magic, after some discussion we decided it needed a bit of pizazz, so my mate had recently done an Aston in Morning Frost and thought it would be a good accompaniments of the base colour of Pearl Black.

    Stripping getting ready for prep

The arches are a know weak spot on the TF and mine didnt dissapoint....

A little bit of welding was needed on the drivers side rear arch...

    A little bit of primer...

    Add some paint..

    Where is the bumper...

So its all done but unfortunately it wasnt quite sunny enough to do it justice...

So the colour in dull light has gone from a black to very dark blue/black and I'm still waiting to see the full effect in proper sunshine but I'm a very happy bunny, I just need to get the spare set of alloys refurbed now

    Come on British weather!

    Re: My respray (picture heavy)

What on earth? Do you have drilled and slotted brakes, front and back on an MG TF? I'm also curious why the door handles went chrome rather than staying body coloured?

Nice paint though, does it look glittery only with the camera or does it in bright daylight as well?

Because they were not much more than standard and I'm pushing upwards of 180BHP and I have been know to throw it around a track every now and again.

The door handles changed because I think they look better than the standard items. along with the washer jets.

It does sparkle in dull light but the camera stuggles to pick it up. I have been reliably informed by my mate it really does sparkle but as its been a bit grey and damp here today (and is looking worse tomorrow ) I will let you know

Looks a great job, I guess you paid special attention to the paint and corrosion protection on the areas that needed welding, as there is always the risk that they will go again.

I always thought the MG was a good looking car, that paint job does it justice. Look forward to seeing it sparkle in sunlight!

MG TF brakes are very average as standard!

I drove one and faded them in half an hour cross country - car was fast but I was so bad at balancing it in corners I had to slam the anchors on every time.

(not a fan .. as you can tell ;-))

the chrome handles suit it too

    Re: My respray (picture heavy)

It looks similar to the MG Antracite (LWQ code) paint i had on my first ZR, which was stunning in good light conditions.

I expect this to be really nice in good light!

How many layers of wax have you applied already?!

I suspect you drove a TF without the 4pot AP's from the sport pack, as standard the F/TF had weedy little 2 pots from the GTA, the 4 pots certainly do help.

Ive been over it with a fine tooth comb and not a masking line in sight

I think the chrome handles really do suit it and go with the chrome hood catches, filler cap, rear deck finishers and washer jets (Chrome grills going on in a week or two as well, oh and spare set of wheels will be redone in shadow chrome )

Its a lot bluer than LWQ almost like a really dark black grape, the only pic I have in sunlight was before it was mopped.

No wax as yet as my mate said to just wash it for 3 or 4 weeks to allow all the oils and solvents to leech out of the new paint. Some nice carnauba wax is sat waiting for me to apply
