As a massive petrolhead i look for any excuse to talk cars to anyone, hence this question.
What is your favorite car? You can chose multiple as i can't even pick just one myself. Both road legal and purpose built racing machines can be listed.

Too many to pick just one.
The Jag Mark II, 80s AM V8 Vantage, TVR Cerbera, McLaren 570s are today's ones that spring to mind, but it'll probably all change tomorrow.
Looks wise - BMW 8 series, back end and side profile of a Saab 9-3sw (biased), Zender vision 3, Koenigsegg one:1.
Sound - The Renault V12 F1 car i heard go around Donington Park on its own. Immense.
Always got a place in my heart for my first 205 Gti.
Aside from that, I'll find something to like about any car.
Dream garage-wise an F40, Huayra, Mc F1 and a Diablo SV would be in before anything else.
Lancia Strato's
Lancia Stratos
Landrover Defender
Peugeot 106 Rallye S1
Nova GSI
Austin Healey Frog Eyed Sprite
Skyline... prolly still the R33

Are you guys kidding?
This thread without pics?
Shame on all of you.
Classic Mini Cooper
Classic Ford Mustang
Lamborghini Countach (not the most gorgeous picture but it illustrates my memories of it perfectly - anyone name the film?)
Lotus Esprit - and somehow it has to be with the headlights up. Down isn't quite the same. Striking design when they're up.
And of course, the only Aston Martin that matters:
All of these are purely from a design/image perspective, with the classic cooper being the only one I could actually own or drive, I suspect.

I don't have an all-time favourite, because too many factors affect what I'd buy.
- Is it my only car, a weekend dry-weather car, or an out and out 'fun' car?
- Budget?
- Where do I live?
- What type of riads do I drive on?
- How many miles am I likely to do?
For instance, if I regularly drive from London to Nice, and money no object, probably a Bentley Continental GT Speed. But if I'm doing most of it round back lanes in Devon, that's too big and heavy for me.
If I live near a Ferrari dealer, or service/tuning expert, then there's several options but keeping them on-song can be a pain, and downright expensive. Also, I'd be tempting fate in Aldi's car park. Not a sensible 'only' or even 'everyday' car, IMHO.
I spent years hankering after a Lotus Esprit ... until I tried driving one. Great looker, but hated driving it.
I tried a TVR Cerbera and, for a 'fun' car it was great, but subtle it wasn't. Or a different type of fun car would be maybe Morgan Plus 8.
For a nostalgia car, maybe Mk1 Lotus Cortina. There sure were great fun, in their day.
For my overall top pick, I guess it has to be the M3. They don't really scream "look at me" like some (well, most) of the rest of this list. Some cars, for me anyway, would say "boy racer" or "mid-life crisis" but the M3 is pretty understated. They're not even especially loud, if you keep the rev's under control. They can be used as an everyday car, parked in the supermarket (and yes, I spend more time at Waitrose but I do use it for Aldi, etc, too) yet, let the rev's build a bit, use the gears and the loud pedal and they sure are quick.
I forgot the Lotus Carlton - the first super-saloon for the common man? Not sure how much an M5 was at the time...
My list of icons varies over time. Currently (you don't need the names..):
And then there's the odd one like:
(and I don't mean the Corbyn-like behind the wheel)
Galant (04-01-2017)
Nice. But "only"??
I have to say I like most modern Astons, both from an appearance and driving perspective. I did list the Bentley as my "money no object" high-power cruiser, but if money was plentiful but not unlimited, an Aston makes a good budget (*) stand-in.
(*) Like most things, the notion of an Aston Martin being a budget anything is .... relative. But that Bentley is a helluva car.
Skoda Octavia '03 Laurin & Klement 1.9 TDi 130PD... but only because that was my Christmas present and is my first car!
Mkiv Golf, with above spec.
The Countache was always a poster car of mine.
Vector W8, because the outside looks like a Transformer and the inside looks like something between a jet fighter cockpit and a spaceship!!
An old V8 like a Dodge Challenger, purely for the sound.
A few cars from films and TV shows, like Knight Rider, or Smokey and the Bandit.
FV432, because it was once my home away from home and you can park it anywhere!
I'd need to be Jay Leno to have my dream garage, I think!
A bit tongue in cheek but considering the subjective nature of the thread I decided to take a stand. The modern Astons are really nice but the DB5 'Bond Car' was and is iconic. Much of the Aston brand owes a debt to the James Bond connection. So yes, it's the only one that matters...
