    Peugeot owners?

So who's been affected by the starter motor recall for 307's and 406 diesels? It looks damn nasty from the pictures on Watchdog, and Peugeot's customer service hasn't been much better

In case anyone hasn't been keeping up (shame on you ) the key would get stuck in the start position in the ignition so the starter motor would run continuously after the engine had started. The motors are designed to run for 5 minutes max so after 10-15 they catch fire and don't leave much left of your car. Potentially they can fry the circuits which could make the central locking go arse over tit and lock the occupants in a burning car.

...not that Peugeot wanted to admit it.

Just saw watchdog - wasn't the problem just on 406 diesels with air conditioning?

The guy said they'd muliplexed something and there was a detector on the fan but rain water could get in and cause a short circuit?

Guess it is better that only a few cars are affected in the P range rather than the Alfas and the situation which occurs when they meet rain....

    Question peugeot 307

Has anyone owning a 307 had to have their comms 2000 unit changed ?. I have had to have mine changed twice, my friend has bought 3 307`s and everyone had to have this unit changed. Pugeot have stated that there is not a problem with their comms 2000 units ???

I fail to see how the driver wouldnt notice (and turn it off - or get out and pull the battery cables off if it really is stuck), since the motor only turns the engine about 200rpm (motor would be several thousand from big gear ratio) when battery powered, and gets quite loud with the engine pushing it round.

If the driver is stupid enough to drive the car like this, its there own fault and they SHOULD be locked in the car to burn...

I think time is a bit irrelevant here... if you took the engine upto 4000rpm just for a second the motor would instantly catch fire/explode.

Well if it's not blown up after 3 and a half years then I expect it's not a problem...

Maybe a rule that anyone reviving old threads has to state it in the post...
