i know that, but a fwd car shouldnt really spin unless you're on the brakes - especailly something like a fester should surely be built to understeer unless you're actually trying?

i know what its like to panic and hit the brakes too hard - i did it in my dads car a few times after i first passed.. perhaps if this affects your driving, ask your parents for skidpan lessons? i recon it'd be easy to get put off by this, which is the last thing you want to happen..

Well I just got back from the garage...

Tracking out, now sorted - drives like normal now!
Buckled rear alloy - gonna set me back £120! (That'll learn me!) and Ive got grass and a stone stuck between the tyre and rim on the front so need to get that sorted really too.
Now I know the car is ok Im feeling much better tho I have been driving much more respectfully!

Skidpan lessons, now that would be fun - but I hardly think I need to be asking my parents for that kinda thing - had my licence 9yrs this month!!!
I once did a day driving session did everything from off roading (which was much fun) to brake testing mondeo's and driving a Fiesta which was rigged to simulate what its like to skid.
I might look into something in the future but for now Im happy to still be breathing in and out and that my baby car is still in one piece!

    Thanks Guys...

my fiesta is pretty easy to slip around in the wet - normally round corners the front would slide in the wet. is yours the old or new style?

honoop - dont pay out that for the alloys - have a look on ebay (really) and phone up a ford breakers - unless you want a *mint* condition wheel, you'll probably pick up a bargin from someone who has done a similar thing and brought a whole new set..

dunno what wheel you got on but see here -> http://search.ebay.co.uk/fiesta-alloy_W0QQfltZ9 for a load of options

ps. soz about misjudging your age.. figured it out just cos most people on here are young..

Whew, glad you're ok... I reckon that you've had the best near miss you could have had... sometimes, a near miss can only reinforce that invulnerable feeling, so witou major damage to you or the car, you've learnt that neither you or it are immune to damage...

    But...

Next time, go with the skid, wind on the lock with a blip of power as the front end goes, then give a HARD and BRIEF yank on the handbrake before rapidly going with oppsite lock , dumping the power back on as the front wheels point down the road....

The back'll flip out nicely, you'll slide round the bend broadside with your exhaust dinging any bunnies on the head that happen to be waiting to cross... then you power off up the road with no appreciable loss of speed and an impressive amount of rubber left behind you on the road...

    (ps, JOKE, ok?)
