Every year, Pat Flynn, who runs the 205 challenge (and who I co drove for for a decade) takes the 205 Challenge rally driver to Sweden for a week 9and this year, 12 days) to learn Ice Driving.
At this time of year it is solid...the lakes are solid..and it is the finest way,to learn on theslippery stuff.

now that forum is as integrated as ours, so you won't know who's who BUT what you do need to know is that Pat's children, Ella and Connor have lived rallying since birth.
Connor is 12.
This year on the two ice stages that the final competition was run on, Connor came SECOND.
And that's second to his Dad, Pat.
They used260 bhp Impreza's and trust me, its ALL about balance and throttle control. You MUST be skilled, balanced, and sensitive.
These people had been there a WEEK...they'd done Ice Karting, front wheel drive, rear wheel drive...
hour after hour, day after day.
And Connor came second.
