It's been about 2 years since I fixed my flooding, so I'm struggling to recall, exactly...

Just (carefully) pull the entire outlet boot off and the drain hose should be hanging freely right there inside. Use something like needle-nose pliers or an angled mechanic's pick to just drag it out. Reconnect and the job should be done. Maybe consider some kind of semi-permanent sealant, if it's a loose fit.
Re-fit the now-connected outlet boot, obviously...!

If that's not the case, then you're looking at popping off the head lining up top, but I suspect it's the door outlet, as it's only the carpet that's wet.

Why cant you get Mrs Z to stand there with a hose pipe raining water over the car while you sit inside & see where it's coming from.

it's not visible... it's behind the carpets

i've done exactly that, but the water ingress is invisible., No wet showing anywhere, but the carpets get damp.

Because I do listen and because you're a smart person, I did this.

Sod all came in.... we sprayed that car with a fair hose worth.

but then half an hour later I decided to check the rear tubes were clear.. the compressor up the pipes was ok.. but I poured a whole bucket of water over the back of the sunroof...

and the rain started.. in the car!

It poured in through the sunroof, down through the sunblind, drenched the seats and the floor. The Sunroof Seals around the glass seem to be so old that they don't hold out enough water in a real deluge.. and it over powers the drain holes.. and WHOOSH. I think in a heavy lengthy rain storm it would leak hard.

I'm gutted to say I think I need to either get a new sunroof seal and fit it round the glass sunroof so it actually pushes against the metal roof frame.. or seal the thing up with silicon and never use it again.

Lol glad it worked, kind of. I'd replace the seals if I were you, should be very cheap and easy to do, did mine on the Beemer a month or two back because the wind noise was driving me insane at anything above 50mph. Mine was a bit tricky as it's a panoramic sunroof but cost no more that £20 in parts and a couple of hours of my time. Yours should be much quicker to do.

I guess 20 years exposure to the elements have taken their toll! But it would be a shame to seal it up with silicon so if you can get the seal....

right, then, you lot as you're so clever....

I need a Mk 1 Skoda Octavia Estate sunroof seal.

I am struggling on this one. Lets be honest... if it was £20 i'd be happy but I think getting it off ALL THE WAY ROUND might be hard without removing it.

re: New whip - death of the 20 year old Polo - death of a 16 year old Octavia

    nah.. I've read them all

    thats basic google skills

I'm talking finding the parts to buy and detail on the job itself

so far I think this is the seal
    http://www.skodaparts.com/product/oc...996-2009-50217

thats £54 plus £7 postage, which is a fair few quid for a seal I think, though it is a strong part.

re: New whip - death of the 20 year old Polo - death of a 16 year old Octavia

Probably worth getting new - one from a breakers is likely to have hard a hard life and might be difficult to remove without damaging it.

re: New whip - death of the 20 year old Polo - death of a 16 year old Octavia

    Dec 2020

She's finally expired. The Octavia goes on to a better place than my drive
168k miles have passed under her tyres and only myself or my dad did those miles.

    1.9 TDI 130 engine - like new
    Gearbox - like new
Clutch - still the first one and like new

Towed 2 different boats at various points and lived near the sea for 14 of it's 16 1/2 years . No rust

But... VW electrics , where Japanese wouldhave been different, have slowly died

Elect windows, central locking, sunroof... all failed. Things which didn't failon Hondas of similar (and older) and higher miles

All fixable but at great expense and time

Passenger window dropped when the cable broke. Car randomly unlocked itself at night, and kept reactivating it's wiring loom causing it to slowly flatten. ELectric rear windows wound down on their own
    Front suspension coil springs broke.

And the seats are so sagged they're crippling me while I recover from a back issue.

    And so... she's gone

Go Japanese. If you're looking at the same size class both the Accord and especially Avensis are pretty much bombproof.

Ouch... Must have been seriously hammered by that salt air, as mine is a little over that mileage and still in VGC despite being heavily abused by 13 POs.

You gonna part it out? The engine alone must be worth £350...
