    SORN question

I've decided to scrap my 18-yo Pug 406, due to an uneconomical repair being required, So I need to SORN it while I decide whether to scrap it or trade it in.

I want to SORN it from the end of the month (tax due 1st August, won;t have to faff with refunds then), but as I pay by DD, I don't get a V11. In order to declare SORN from the 1st of the next month, you need a V11. If you pay your tax by DD, you don't get a V11. If I use the log book number (V5c), I can only declare SORN from today, but I need to keep using the car until the end of the month.
I want to declare it now so that the DD doesn't get applied for and I don't need to apply for a refund for money that was taken when there was no need to.

Anyone got any idea how I declare from 1st August?

    Re: SORN question

I think SORN applies from the day you apply. You could cancel the DD at your bank and/or at the DVLA website now though so it doesn't renew. You then SORN it on 31 July.

That said, the refund process is very quick and goes straight back into your bank.
