Wow. Crazy I've just come across this post. My dad owns the MK2 in an olive green colour. It's a real beauty but has had a load of smaller tweaks done on it to remain relevant in today's world. A real hard task in finding all the parts that need replacing- we are trying so hard to source the originals but unfortunately nowadays they just aren't being produced anymore.
An example of this are the original rubber matts we have in the footwells- they have very small bumps in the matts which make them very unique but a real issue. As the rubber has aged the bobbles now break off whenever you go and sit in the car. We now have a no shoes on policy! We've found that using Johnson's baby oil on the rubber makes it a little softer so it's less able to crack.
I forget all the details but the car is now due for a small paintjob from when a lose tile from the roof of the garage it was kept in fell off and scratched the back many years ago.

My first car almost got to be a Mk2 JAG like that, but as a apprentice money was low so i went with the Volvo 121 that stood right next to the JAG
