I've never parked across 2 spaces in my life, I use a bit of common sense and choose a space that isn't next to a car likely to swing their doors without a care into mine, eg a sh1t heap on wheels or a people carrier, it might take a couple of circuits of the car park to do this, but so be it.

In my opinion you are far more likely to invite damage to your car by parking selfishly.

People that park over two spaces need a slapping, it's just pure greed/arrogance.

I've done that once or twice

How hard is it to park properly anyway?

I work at a supermarket and drive to work, therefore I get to see examples of idiocy including parking at a 45 degree angle to the lines and taking up two spaces.
How hard is it to straighten up? It takes about 30 seconds MAX if you're the world's slowest driver! If I come in at an angle and don't end up straight, I reverse and go back in. It's not difficult. Why can't the silly women who drive Land Rover Discoveries (I parked next to one of those once... The wheels are almost as big as my car  ) and BMW X5s learn this? Compensating for the size of their brain IMHO.
