2003 Fiesta - Head Unit Changing

Trying to get some details about this for a m8 of mine. As I understand it the Fiesta has a double DIN space with a weird head unit to make it look like there's 3 thin units installed.

To change this I'm guessing a new fascia is needed, such as http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...sPageName=WDVW

But, while that will allow a standard head unit to be installed, what I don't get is how you are meant to get around the problem of the fact that the 3 slim holes are moulded into the centre console plastic cover. Do you need to replace that as well, or is some funky trickery involved?

    Thanks

Have you got a pic at all of what the dash looks like?

I'm not familiar with the new fiestas. I have only installed a couple into the older style. You probably know anyway, but you'll definately need an ISO adapter as well, to convert the ford plugs into the standard ISO plug for the new stereo...

PS Just noticed the fascia in your link is for cars 2002 and older. Is it the same for the newer models?

I'm pretty much clued up on the wiring of the whole thing, it's the physical fitting which has me baffled.

This isn't the same model, but the head unit area looks exactly the same as:

    EEEK! I wasn't expecting that!!!

I see what you mean now tho!

I imagine you're going to need to change the whole center console cover. With the Ford Ka, you had to do the same as the stereo was "behind" and blended into the console. I can't imagine it being one of Autoleads' cheaper fascias!

I've not been able to find any pics of a 2003 Fiesta fascia yet, but I am pretty sure the one you listed is the wrong one.

Have you been able to find any way of getting the whole console apart?

Sorry I can't be of any more help.

Yes, you have to change the facia of the centre console.

Ive done a few myself when I worked @ ford, as I recall, the centre facia isnt mega expensive, but its enough. (Not to mention there are loads of different colours and ford have a nice habbit of sending the wrong one)
