Yummy car for sale in local paper (5lab get in here)

Looked through the free local paper and saw an ad for a Volvo V40 T4 (thats the one that does 0-60 in 7.1s) - 63k, f. Volvo s.h., leather, long MOT, taxed. My father was very tempted (although not by the T4 bit). I was very tempted too (although by the T4 bit, you may remember I am thinking of getting a prelude for 3-4k in half a year).

And the best bit about it?

    It was £3,500!!!!!!!

Maybe its too good to be true. But it sure seems nice!

In the end my dad thought about the loft conversion that needs the money and i thought about getting a job first... But for a moment, we both dreamed

thats probably about right for the car - s and v40s loose money quite quickly (v40s less so than s40s).. me dads got a very late v40 and its nice to drive.. no hot hatch mind. apparently theres some quite big differences between a 'phase 1' t4 and a 'phase 2', but i dunno what they are

The problem with the S40 and V40 is that they are not true Volvos in the same sense that the V70 is. It's a Mitsubishi Carisma in a party frock essentially - shares the same floorpan etc etc which means the cooking models at least handle like a sack of spuds, much like the Carisma.

This is why they depreciate much more heavily than traditional Volvos.

    Do yourself a favour - you want a Volvo T, get a proper one - a nice S70 or V70 T5.

agreed. incidentally, the new c30 (coupe and or cabriolet based on the new focus platform) might come with volvo's new 300bhp 6 cylendar engine.. *goes off to weep*
