Limited by temperature problems and reliability, vw made it pass exactly the same endurance and reliabilty tests as its passats/golfs and the like, something most hypercars would ever be put through.

The flip side to your question is, when you have 987bhp and 0-200 in 14ish seconds (maclaren F1 did that in around 25secs) do you need that extra 14bhp
