Importing an Old American Muscle Car

    OK guys,

Just wandered if anyone had any information, or knew about doing this :

Basically i aim at some point in the next year or two to import an aold american muscle car from the states into this country.

Not for working on and doing up - but for using - maybe some minor repairs etc - im not a mechanic.

Was looking for something like :

    Old Mustang
    Dodge Charger

    Stuff like that.

    Anyone know about it?

I wanted to do that for my first car, lol. Then quickly realised insurance would me a massive insure.

I did come across a couple of sites tho. I was looking for mustangs mainly.

    http://www.musclecarimports.fsnet.co.uk/

    http://www.pomonaimports.com/

    http://www.holten.demon.co.uk/mustang/

I don't know if they are anygood. Just some sites a came across so I don't know if they a reliable of or anything but the last one does mention the Pomona site.

Personally.... I would look to see whats over here currently.
Ive heard a few stories recently of people buying cars that are mis-advertised, or indeed arent the same car thats shipped.
Currently (and this shocked me) some of the best british american muscle is being purchased and shipped back to the USA
Mustangs and Chargers are easy to get hold of over here, the MMA (mopar muscle association) is a good starting point for the charger.

I would also be inclined to buy one that's already here. TBH I hope you have deep pockets though, older muscle cars use a stupid amount of fuel. There's a guide to buying C4 (I.E. 80s) Corvettes in this month's Practical Performance Car- you can apparently get a decent one for £4k now and they're not silly money to run either.....
