As for insurance, start building up no claims early and for gawds sake don't crash.

Me Renault 5 cost me £850 3PFT when I was 18 with 0 no-claims.
Now I'm paying £300 3PFT on me Pug 306. with 3 years no claims.

As an extra note on the Tesco insurance. Whilst their online quote "with 5% off if you do it online!" gave my rover (that I had paid 650 for elsewhere) £640 3rd party.... I called them and they quoted me £551 3rd party over the phone! So I would suggest anyone with a banger, should possibly phone around the old fashioned way rather than rely on the web like I did last month.
