2nd hand car recommendation

looking recommendations for a 2nd hand car. details are below any suggestions welcome:

Budget: £5000
car: hatchback but must have some nice headroom and preferably adjustable steering column
engine: upto 1.8
clock: around 25,000


any ideas?

First, ditch the mileage requirement. It's un-neccesarily and will merely cause you to spend more money on an older car. IMHO, Age > Mileage.

Mr Predictable says... Mondeo has adjustable steering column, plenty of headroom, is a hatchback, and you'd get a nice 2001 Mk3 for this sort of money.

Or a 2000 Mk2 for half that.

Seconded about the mileage- a modern car is barely run in at 25,000 miles. For £5k the world is your oyster really, loads of recent, very nice cars around for that.
