The drift guys do it to even further minimalise sidewall flex , and because they are all cheapskates , they dont want to buy the 12 inch wide tyres to go with their 12 inch wheels

This was done over on UK Mk-ivs a while back but the exterior of the car was kept pretty much as standard, if I remember the perpetrator had suprisingly little difficulty dropping a 1.8T lump in it.
