    What? One of the most beautiful mass produced cars of recent years looks like a chuffing Mondeo!

    Teh 406 was designed by pininfarina (famous italian design house) = major qudos as they have also helped design extremely exotic cars (cant think of any tho.)

    Its a MONDEO? Much as I love the Mondeo the 406 Coupe is far more beautiful car - it's mistaken for a Ferrari more often than not.

    Yet she thinks it looks like a MONDEO??

    'Nice' just about sums it up. The car overall is pleasant enough but the nose lacks any shred of character and frankly the likeness to first gen Mondeo is fairly accurate.
    Now I look at them and WANT to like them but I can't drum up the enthusiasm ..... there's something missing.

    Avantime DCi if they're that cheap. Just cos it's definitely different.

    Hmm Modus? Slightly quirky and over 58 miles a diesel version will be better than you might think.

    In fact if we're talking cutesy new Swift, Micra?

    Diahatsu Copen?! (too expensive?)

    guys, I can only apologise for the wifey's words about the pug - I think they're stunning, but she's the devil on my shoulder when it comes to views on cars - she has NO IDEA about cars, but being in fashion means she's got an eye for what's hot... she doesn't like scoobys (chav), MPVs (she calls them... 'spaz mobiles' - sorry if it offends), Swift/Micra are family cars... but the 406 coupe didn't do it for her... I think if she saw it in the flesh it'd be a different story...

    so we're back to sq. 1... beetle tdi...
