At any time, Xantia Activa rolls at most half a degree. This make it not only spectacular to look at, but also improve cornering speed. French magazine L'Automobile tested a Xantia Activa on skidpad and measured an amazing 0.94 g lateral acceleration. This compares competitively with many supercars - NSX managed 0.93 g, Ferrari 512TR 0.92 g, Toyota Supra 0.95 g and Ferrari F40's 1.01 g. This is even more impressive if you consider the Xantia wears just 205/55R15 tyres

Try to get an Early Audi A4 with the 2.5 V6 TDi, it'd tow for england and still be perfect as an everyday car.
Theres also a rule not many people know about - if a red swb audi quattro appears in your rear view mirror you must pull over to let them pass.

Self leveling suspension as standard on the estates.Originally Posted by Vimeous

I know you mentioned 2tn, but is a Stripped out CRX and trailer really gonna weigh that much?
Funny how bigger cars don't always mean bigger towing capacity. I said 1.6tn on my sierra estate earlier, not sure where I got that from. The limit on every sierra estate is 1350Kg, and that's down to the stress on the car, not the Engine/brakes etc.
As a comparison, the Granny 2.9 with an auto managed 2000Kg. Might look into getting one myself for when I'm back towing again.
It's either that or a Hi-Lux surf. I do a fair bit of driving off the beaten track and am starting to get a little bit fed up having to pick a path that doesn't finish off the underside of the car. Might even be enough justification to own an off-roader without feeling guilty
If I remember correctly at the time the hydractive suspension was released there was some concern that by artificially counteracting cornering forces the system was capable of masking the breakaway characteristics of the car.Originally Posted by 5lab

Funnily enough these days this type of system is just how active suspension systems from Merc and co work.
How things change!
Konan if we assume 800-900kg for the CRX, 250kg (?) trailer and a spare set of wheels if takes wets and slicks at say 50kg (?). Then we're not doing too bad.
However I would be an unhappy bunny if the car were teeny.
Ah ha!
Shad what you REALLY need is Honda tow-car! Get an early CRV. Flies in the face of most of what I've said until now but gotta fly the flag donchaknow!

The Xantia Activa was an absolutely brilliant car. It cornered so flat they were forced to build in artificial bodyroll right on the limit to remind you that it was time to back off. Seriously under-rated cars, nobody bought them becuase it was a Xantia.
Only available as a 2.0 Turbo here but the French got a V6 and an HDi version.
