What did you get up to on your hoverbike then?

Anyway James- do tell how you managed to wangle a ride up an airfield on an R6? Lucky sod. I'm not sure what the most I've done on a bike is- probably 85-90. That was on a race school at Mallory Park on a VFR400 and it felt bloody fast to me- I bricked it and ran onto the gravel after about 4 laps

I got nicked on my racing bike by the cops... they tagged me doing over 40 in a 30 limit going down a steep hill.

Thing was, I was out on my new bike for the 2nd or 3rd time after having just come out of hospital from a really bad crash... I still had the stitches in my face... they were about to lecture me on how dangerous it was and then just gawped before asking me what had happened... the poor buggers couldn't believe I was daft enough to go careering off on a bike again...

I guess passing them at 40mph+ on the outside on a left hand curve wasn't the best I idea I had that day...

I made it up to 50mph on my old mountain bike, once, down a particularly large hill. Could just about pedal it up to 40mph if the wind was with me. Remember to wear big sunglasses to splat the bugs and deflect the stones with

40mph on pedal with a mountain bike. Thats quick.

I could only just get that on a mild downhill on a road surface before the drag was pretty much stopping any more and, on my ratios I was pedaled out.

well, probably just shy of 40 (definitely managed something aruond 60-66kmh on almost-flat road with the wind) but maintainging contact with the gearing at 66kmh requires some serious spinning and is not maintainable for too long

To get my mountain bike up to 50mph I had a long slightly downhill bit no which to get the bike up to about 40 while still assisting the acceleration with my legs, this slight downhill was then followed by a massive hill which got me the final 10mph using gravity (I'm not light...) It was only once I was doing 50mph (well, 78kmh according to the speedo, so just under 50, but 50 sounds better ) that I thought that perhaps a helmet might have been a good idea. Luckily my sunglasses deflected anythnig from my eyes. White knuckle ride indeed! My mate got his racing bike up to 81kmh down the same stretch of road, and I've watched an old car fail to make it up (clutch kept slipping before they got to the top

I've done that when I was at uni. Rush hour traffic in Cambridge, cars all jammed up. Me on a bike in the cycle lane doing 38mph with a heavy following wind, camera went off

A local professional rider did the same and the nicked him! They recognised the sponsorship logos and actually prosecuted.

It'd be worth getting done just to get the picture off the speed trap! I'd have it printed on a T-Shirt.
