But then look at this... It's less extreme than the previous vid, but backs up all the concepts shown.

If you check out 'Alan Szabo Jr' with Google you'll see that he's a renowned Heli-expert. I'm fairly sure that it's a real vid.

Ummmm, its a model chopper not a real one, they have rotors that can change pitch thru 180o and a daft power/weight ratio..

As for the RC Heli vid- that's possibly the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

    Edit: This is amazing too:

yeah, but watch the shadow - the two blokes' shadows indicate the sun being behind them, but the 'copter's shadow stays directly below it, when it's doing it's runs up and down the runway (gaining altititude) you'd expect the shadow to run away from the camera - it doesn't...

If you watch the shadow, it correctly recedes as the heli climbs, the smoke trail is "right" and the inertia feels "right". They couldn't even get it that accurate on the Balrog in LOTR. Oh yeah, and the noise is "right" too, with blade slap at the right places and engine loading.

Model helis can do all that, especially with a top pilot ( Google for Alan Szabo ). That 2 stroke (2 strokes have no problem running inverted) 0.90 cu in engine puts out about 1.5 hp into a model that weights about as much as a small feather. Chuffin expensive though when you stuff em into the ground at speed (which learners tend to do quite a lot). Oh yes, and you can even get em with proper turbine engines in now.

When i was watching that hellicopter i was even scared it might come through my monitor and chop my head off! Seriously would be scared with that thing flying around with a massivly fast 'blade' spinning on top of it
