Go on. If I ever get my MR2 exhaust fixed it's going to need the oil doing soon after- I changed the filter and filled it with Mobil 1 0w40 when I got it, and, rather like Jon's customer, I've left it since I've 'only' done about 12,000 miles though so I doubt it's terminal yet. So, what's better than Mobil 1?

It really is superb. It offers protection that's difficult to better, without adding 'drag' to components, sapping engine power - only it does have a downside. It doesn't last, and it's bloody expensive. It's based around ester technology - the kind of stuff you'd normally find lubricating aircraft engines!

It's meant for race engines, but does equally as well in an enthusiasts car... You just have to be prepared to change it, because after 3,000 - 4,000 miles it's pretty much shot and a change is essential.

Erm.....There is no way I could be sure to change my oil after 4000 miles. Way too tight and lazy

    Mobil 1 it is then.

The current Porsche Boxster only needs a service once every 18,000 miles or 2 years, whichever comes sooner. Much of this is down to the use of Mobil-1 (the rest down to the mechanical components and engine).

That's a pretty good feat if you think about how the car could be driven!

I thought it was down to the fact that ppl that buy boxters dont know anything about cars and cant afford a 911 so they have to build them a bit more resilient?

Just pop it along to a Toyota dealer and ask them but don't get them to do the work. Or you could take it to an independent garage. It shouldn't cost a lot but will be cheaper than a seized engine!

Normally you have to change it at least once a year (for older cars anyway) or sooner if you do a lot of miles.
Tough on mirrors, tough on the causes of mirrors.
