    Smile I Bet They Were Miffed When It Seized As Well...

    Had to put an engine in a Peugeot Partner van yesterday. Trouble was the new engine we had was out of a car and had an ally sump instead, complete with it a hairline crack in the bottom where they must of dropped it a little too hard at the scrappy. Anyway, i think no bother and whip the steel sump off the old engine i'd taken out to be greeted by this...



    I'd actually tried to drain the oil out of the old engine before i removed it, but even with the sump plug out not a drop of oil came out. When i got the sump off there was about 3 or 4 litres of sludge in it. The van was 5 years old with around 80k on the clock...i'm guessing its not had an oil change in its life...

    ouch..

    might be worht checking if it'd had any services... if it had this could maybe point to something more serious??

    Hehe, it did point to something more serious mate...it was seized solid . No service history with it but as i say, that oil had to of done a LOT of miles to end up in that state...
