    out of interest, how much would a set (do you buy them as sets?) of standard stock type hoses be? i think the volvos got a leak so i figure i can just replace them all

    Aint got a clue mate. Volve breakers yard I'd guess, can't imagine you'd find em new these days. Maybe GSF, but unlikely.

    Distributor is ELECTRICITY, 5LAB my friend.

    Most are HT leads (plug leads)

    the thin blue Y shaped split one (turn head to left) I think is Dump Valve OR Advance and Retard from Carb to mainfild...

    MIGHT be Fuel Pressure Reg Valve..in which case you are right on that score 5lab

    Red = water
    Thick blue = boost
    Thin blue = vacumn hose
    Light blue = HT leads

    Next off, oil breather and the carb stuff - white hose, along with a chrome rocker, oil cap and carb plenum.

    Hose kits for the R5 are silly, silly money. The whole kit is just under 600 quid. Since the red ones were second hand I'm only paying 170 for em.. usually they'd be close to 400 quid.

    Nothing difficult to it mate at all. The big blue hoses are the boost hoses - they take compressed air from the turbo to the top of the carb.

    The red ones move water around the engine, turbo and radiator to help keep things cool. Since the engine gets so hot (due to the turbo) there's loads of water pipes hence why it looks so complicated, but there's nothing to it really.
