Design elements that bug you (56k maybe)

There is a design feature on a few cars that really gets to me. A car that could be gorgeous is spoilled by it in my opinion. I will post a couple pics of some cars that suffer from it, some pic of cars that get away with it and some pics of cars that get it right. You try guessing what i am on about.

Wing mirrors?

Always hate them - spoil so many designs - yet so many have done some good with them...

And front number plates, i hate them as well - spoiling a good front end...

Am i right with either of them?

Not the gob, although it can be a bit annoying. Funnily enough the rx8 is something that would go into the second category with the c70 - cars that just about get away with it.

Its not mirrors or plates either.

Im not sure but id say its something to do with the way the front of the car is shaped

Thing that annoys me about cards is CURVES!! i hate bubble cars.. need something a bit more boxie, not all boxie... it needs some type of curve but dont make it in to a bubble



I mean cmon... just look at it.

Yes angles and curves are good!

I think the new Civic looks fantastic

Its not the lights and its not the curves.

And tbh i think micra is actually fine, although some cars can be too bubbly.

By the way remembered a bubble car that also demonstrates my point (not by being bubbly mind) although on this one it doesn't look too bad

ah yousee... that looks mean! it needs to have atleast SOME sharpness is the looks

Back to these cars, All i can see the same between them all is the way the front is shaped towards the "nose" or "gob" of the cars

Right. Here's a demonstration of the XK case:



Its the way they cut through curves with bonnet lines, either screwing up the characteristic curvy bonnet lip (bmw, volvo) or just looking like its gonna fall off(xk)! With the colouring on the bumper and bonnet not flowing because of it too. The c70 goes around it by having the bonnet follow the bonnet creases. And the e class just goes all the way and the bonnet flows onto the front.

Doh i was just gonna post that it is the heavy line where the bumper meets the bonet that you dont like and you go and spoil it!
