Fiesta Zetec 1.25 V reg coming up to 40k

Anything I should do to the car regards servicing etc?

now that it's nearly at 40 thousand miles?

It was probably serviced about 6 or 7 months ago before we got it.

    Thanks

Also, when going about 60 or over, there's a weird ticking / clicking / noise coming from the front dash - anyone have any ideas what this could be?

Also, should we find a proper Ford dealer to take it to or will "local cheap garage" do? (if ford, how much more money is it likely to cost us?)

    Thanks

    Josh

First, if you are gonna get it serviced, you should really use a Ford dealer...but ask FIRST for a price. It mightneed a timing belt, if so do it.

Servicing is expensive.......its summit the UK public need to get into their minds. People arehappy to spend £10,000 on a car, but still try to spend £150 instead of £300 on getting it serviced.....dont understand that at all.

However, for the amount of work involved in a service, and the amount you actually get, you are paying for the priviledge of someone owning a bloody great garage and having all those machines/computers/telephones/coffe machines etc running.

Lots of people like to get it done somewhere "up the road" or go see "Fred, in a shed" somewhere. If ya can trust them, implicetly, then the private man is probably a good bet......

The ticking noise....most likely the mileometer (odometer).

Try pushing the mileage resetter WHILE driving...

WARNING.....do NOT put your arm through the wheel to do this while driving...put your arm around the outside of the wheel...just incase you gotta steer....

I am guessing its not a digital mileage reading.

ford garages do charge thru the roof - have a look and see if you can find an independant ford garage near you. most cars need servicing @ approx every 6000 miles/6 month
