    One day my new BOV will be fitted, but not today. :(

    Let me fill you in on the sorry story of my HKS SSQ Blow Off Valve.

    Many moons ago I went out in Philz's MR2 and loved his BOV which he showed me was an HKS SSQ. After "umming" and "ahhing" for many months I bit the bullet and bought one.

    First of all Parcel Force lost the first one that was sent to me. (1 week delay). The company kindly got HKS Europe to send another one direct to me but instead of it coming to me.... they sent it to the company. (Another week delay).

    On receiving my valve I ripped it open to find that it needed welding onto a T piece. No problem - I'll go get that sorted.... But the blummin thing is Aluminium isn't it, so can't be welded. So, I take it to a welders. They say, "No problem, will be done within a week". I get back to them a week later and the Ally welder is on bloody holiday!

    So I take it back and today I find someone who can weld Ally. They do it there and then and it only costs me a tenner. Finally I think! So I go home, get all my tools out.. and do you think I can find my circlip pliers which I need to clip the valve onto the T piece? Oh no.. So I go over to a mates house to use his.

    I get there and we have a look for his.. No joy. So, we get in the Clio with the intention of going to B&Q. And what happens??

    The bloody acclerator cable snaps. ARGH!! Since I don't have one to hand I have to call the AA out, who sort me out a cable. On the upside the acclerator now sits lower so it's 1000x easier to heel and toe - something for me to practice.

    So, with the car now running it's off to B&Q for the circlip pliers. We have a look in the hand tools section... and they don't have any. Gutted.

    So there you have it - someone must REALLY not want me to have this valve on the car.

    Ok, it gets worse. Found the pliers.. stuck the valve on.. was just about to cut the boost hoses when I thought I'd try it on my old ones.

    Bmummin T piece is too small!

    Just off to have some more bits welded on the end to make it the right size.

    Finally!

    Got it all fitted up and looking nice under the bonnet. It's a bit of a squeeze but it's all sorted.

    The first valve is pretty quiet - you could be forgiven for not hearing it at all. But the second valve.

    It's blummin loud - turns heads from miles away usually with a look on their face.

    Well worth the wait.

    I'll look forward to it, at least with some piccies i'll get to learn a bit more about what the hell a BOV is

    I'm thinking its something like the black car is too fast too furious had in it. to let unburnt fuel out the car - reason for it? well it makes noise, but i'm not sure other than that what affect it would have.

    Interested to see where it sits....

    BOV = dump valve TiG

    it dumps the excess air out of the turbo on gear shift/throttle drop.

    In theory it extends the life of the turbo by reducing impellor stall , thus improving throttle responce.

    in practice it makes a nice noise

    the ND one I have in the 200 sounds like a "frikkin' laser beam" [/DrEvil}

    BOV = fancy name for a dump valve. I had someone over at the RSC argue to me than a dump valve wasn't the same thing as a BOV. Kids..
