Has signed a 2 season contract to ride for Yamaha. Hopefully, with him riding along side Carlos Checa, both blinding racers, Yamaha will be able to give Honda some competition next year....

Sweet! The man's got guts, walking away from Honda. What a dude.

implying that because they've signed Rossi, the sponsors are gonna sit up and take note cos he's world champion (again) and pour more money into the team, therefore enabling them to do more research, testing and get tricker bits for their machines, so they CAN get to the same technical sophistication as Honda...
All boils down to money, and signing Rossi has to be the greatest PR coup ever, plus with all the personal sponsors Rossi has, even more money will be flowing into the team.

Not much heard more than that and i'd like to pick up on anything else you know about next season.

Well theres a few Brits in it this year.... Hodgson is racing for the D'Antin Ducati team.. should be ok, it's a strong machine and he's been working with Ducati for years.. Shakie Byrne is moving into Colin Edwards' spot in Aprillia, and Edwards is moving to Gresini Honda. Jeremy McWilliams will probably stay with the KR Proton team. Hodgo's not got a full factory ride, but that might well be on the cards if he does well in 2004 - Lois Capirossi and Troy Bayliss are currently making up the factory squad.

You're right probably about him not getting the champeenship this year.... that's why he signed a 2 year deal, get the machine sorted and get used to it this year and then whup everybody next year. Besides, it'll be nice to see someone else get the championship other than Rossi.. bit like when Doohan retired, the racing was more exciting then cos it wasn't a race for 2nd....

I've read some previews of the trick technology they're using, and nothing will touch it. Rossi is a fantastic rider, but you seem to be forgetting the rest of the field. The riders HRT will have for next year will win. And win. They're too far ahead.
I guess you missed Colin Edwards jumping on a RC211v and within 3 hours lapping faster than Valentino at Catalunya.
I think the Ducatis will pose more of a threat than the Yamahas. Valetino isn't the be all and end all.
Well... they must be scared of something anyway...

Honda reject Yamaha request for Rossi to test at Sepang
Honda have turned down a request from Yamaha to allow Valentino Rossi to test the M1 before the cessation of his contract with HRC on 31st December. Fortuna Yamaha Team Director Davide Brivio spoke to HRC counterpart Carlo Fiorani last Wednesday, requesting that Rossi be freed to take part in a three day official test with the team starting on 28th November at Sepang. However, Fiorani rejected the approach – admitting they did not want to hand an advantage to the World Champion and his new machine.
“Despite our affection for Valentino Rossi and respect for Team Yamaha, we cannot allow Rossi to test the M1 before the 31st December,” confirmed Fiorani. “We simply cannot afford to concede advantages to our rivals. To allow Yamaha to test with Valentino would be like giving a sixth card to an opponent in a game of poker. This is a game and you have to respect the rules. I think Davide Brivio was right to ask our permission, and I think we were right to turn him down.

It's certainly going to be interesting seeing Rossi use the bike that isn't top of the tree. It'll surely prove to us all whether he's as good as well all think he is.
Hes good enough, but he will have to do a hell of a lot of testing and improving to it before next season to get it somewhere near a pace that will allow him to keep up with the Hondas i think. He is a god, but even god himself couldn't get that M1 round the track at a decent pace i'm thinking...
I take it all back - Rossi's gonna be taking a back seat this year methinks.... Ruben Xaus is partnering Hodgson at Ducati...

That young Yank Nicky Hayden is gonna show em why no one over here could compete with him The kids VERY talented. So far it's taken him one season to learn how to run up front in every circuit he's ran.
The guys been nothing but phenominal since his start in bikes. He's flown through the ranks over here, pretty easily too I might add.
You don't see many Americans (any? only started watching bikes when Nicky started) do well in MotoGP but Hayden is gonna change that.
I hope
