I looked at some pretty tired (and expensive) Subaru Legacies before deciding this was the tow vehicle for me. 1997, 850 CD with the 20v 2.5 engine. Surprisingly brisk to drive, tho 170hp helps with that. Electric everything (including the drivers seat, which is a novelty!), air con, cd changer, enormous boot and full dealer history right the way through. £1800

Now I just need to snap up a sensibly priced trailer and I'll be set

I'm sorely tempted Craig! Decent breathing system, de-cat, superchip... I think 200hp is fairly easy to come by. But I quite liked being able to get an £82 rebate on my insurance because there are no modifications

I looked into T5s and the R models but Mr Insurance didn't like the idea! I was mighty pleased to be given an £81 rebate when I switched the insurance from the CRX, and it should be even cheaper at renewal

Got 4 months tax to claim back from The Man as well
