Octavia vRS - Now Remap ( Dyno Print )

Arrived back last night after a couple of days down by Crowland getting the car fitted with some new goodies from the lads at Jabba.
Everything went fairly smoothly, was there from 9am too 7pm and had a 4hr+ drive home.

Lucky for me, the drive home was something special!

The car is awsome! Fifth gear on the motorway is superb, and what can I say about third! From 30mph too 110mph and very rapidly does it do it!

The dyno print is included, if you click on the pic it will take you too the larger version.

240.7bhp with 249.07ft/lbs

The mods are :

Full Jabba Sport Custom Remap on RR and Road
Full Blueflame Exhaust system with 100cel cat
Carbonio Carbon fibre Cold Air Induction
Baileys DV30 Dump Valve
Boost Controller

I also had some new DS2500 brake pads and fluid change too DOT4, while some new 225/45 tyres will replace the current 205/50 in all four corners in a few weeks.


Engine wise the next step would be down the FMIC route and then a IHI turbo conversion, but for now this setup will be more than enough.

Do did you have to increase the boost to get that figure, or is that with the standard boost?

Im going FMIC and fuel computer later on in the year on me datsun. Should be able to hit the magic 300bhp. Any more and i'll have to look at a turbo upgrade, cant really be bothered with that at the mo.

You are looking at 0.7-0.9 bar set up on the 1.8T engine as standard.

Typical remapped boost is about 1.5 -1.6 bar which is getting to the limit of the K03(s) turbo

Mine (Leon with Jabba remap) hits 1.15 bar peak (@240bhp). Boosting beyond that means a KO4 (i.e. TT 225 turbo) which allows higher boost levels (whilst still being a small turbo). Not that it's worth it - you might as well go the IHI route as it'll hold boost to the redline (unlike the KO4) and you don't need to run high boost for good figures (high flow versus high pressure). Problem with IHI is to do it properly you need a FMIC, full exhaust system and a torque biasing diff to make good use of it (on FWD) at circa 300-330bhp (limit of standard engine internals). I know of a guy with an Ibiza running 380-400hp with IHI :O_o1:

A word of caution - check the boost controller box (it's inside your dashboard - follow the lead from the controller knob - remove the section under the driver's wheel) hasn't been wired in just by twisting the wires together and taping it up.. Mine was which didn't leave me too happy - I properly crimped the connections when i found that!

By comparison I run about 17Psi to hit ~300bhp in the Nissan.

Large turbo/large flow then?

KO4 cars (TT 225/Cupra R) run higher still..

but I'd need to spend upwards of a grand on an uprated gearbox as well which isn't in the current budget :)

Don't take the boost figures as bible, I got them off Briskoda not Jabba themselfs.

Ahhh the garret - yeah there's a few tuners doing those for the 1.8T engine too - but yes it's basically much higher flow than the comparitively smaller KO3s. Swings and roundabouts tho - KO3s will spin up far sooner (hence very little perceptable lag - aka modern dervs) but also drop out far sooner. IHI turbos are also roller bearing and cut in around ~500 rpm later than the stock KO3s but hold till the red line.. A 1.8T with IHI is a _very_ different drive tho - there's far less 'snatch' at the wheels as you have a much more linear boost which is what makes 300bhp driveable with FWD (something many will tell you isn't possible). Personally if I was having it done i'd uprate the engine internals and mounts just to be on the safe side.

A proper IHI conversion with all the _necessary_ bits will cost you ~5k to get you to 300-330bhp on a typical VAG 1.8T car. When I initially put myself on Jabba's waiting list I was told about 2-3k but development took a lot longer than they expected and now i don't really have so much disposable income.

I bought a 75bhp Audi 80 TD SE - cost me 800quid and when i got in the leon today (after a week and a half of driving the audi) it felt like the fastest car on earth... Much cheaper than an IHI conversion lol :)

Yup, good guess and a great bloke to chat to about cars :) Hence he got a lot of my custom when buying upgrades for my car!
