    Smile The Lucky Landy Escape!!!

A few weeks back my sisters 200TDi 110 Defender ground to a halt after running on its own oil and revving its knackers off before they managed to stall it...i feared a blown turbo. I posted about it on Slams forum at the time...well, the last few days i've had some spare time at work so i thought you might like to see some piccies!. Soz for the lack of dismantling pics...

With some spare time i decided to get stuck in...it was far better than i'd imagined!.

Pulled the head and all the gubbins off to discover no bents rods like i was expecting. Thats been cleaned ready for the refurbed head to be dropped on.

    Shiny!!!.

New top end gasket set and new headbolts.

New head on and torqued down.

The cause of the original problem!!!.

Happily ever after!. All up and running to find out it needs MOT'ing in a fortnight, and the cambelt needs doing and i have a list of other things to be done. And can i service their Hilux Surf on saturday...ahh well, at least my sister doesn't live 100's of miles away anymore.

The problem with 200TDi's is finding a replacement when they go tits up. Discovery engines need literally everything swapping over...the place we get our Landy & Range Rover parts from quoted me £1200 for a secondhand Defender engine, if and when they could find one...
