how hard are those Toyota's?

Hi.

After watching top gear last night. I want to show my complete surprise at how rock solid that Toyota pick up was!!

For those who missed it:

really old toyota pickup and 180k on the clock.
Clarkson took it to Bristol and crashed it into a wall, a tree, and drove down some stairs. Still going.

Then tied it in the sea, when the tide came in. Ropes broke and they found it 5 hours later stuck in the sand. Got a digger to lift it out. After some fiddling round it still worked.

Knocked a wrecking ball into it, made some dents. Still going fine.

Dropped a caravan on it, more dents. Still working

Set fire to it, next day still working and was driven into the studio.

O yeah, and some where along the line they drove it through a shed.

Unbelievable!!!

Yeah, they are rock solid! They are so popular in South Africa (where I'm from) Most farmers that I've seen use them. In most cases they don't get looked after, like you or me would look after our cars, and they still just go on and on and on and on!! Its a pity they don't make cars that solid anymore! I wouldn't mind getting an old jalopy toyota 4x4 and thrash it to bits, could be endless fun!

Drove one of the new ones and it was pretty nice, I'd much prefer the 4 seater one of them to a brand new landcruiser

Super bit of kit and I used to see them coming in for services with 200K on the clock and still running strong

Drove Hi-luxes for a few years both on and off the road and they are immense machines..... Not great for the taller person tho due to space but rock solid machines which will take 90% of punishment and still keep going.

Immense fun off road as you get yourself spinning in big circles in the middle of a remote hill in Winter
