    FAO Lowe

Hiya mate. Ive got a 172 and had it on the RR in Bury on Saturday. It put out 144bhp at the wheels which sounds about right?! Just wondered if any 172's went on the RR when yours was the other week? If so, is there any chance of you getting me a copy of the graph so i can compare Torque/Power curves.
Mine and another lad got the same output of 144bhp and they are both 4 weeks old, mine had 1500miles on the clock and his had 1000 miles so i'd say its a good figure @ 144, what do you reckon?

    Thanks

144 at the wheels is about smack on.

The 172 does not stand for 172bhp, despite what Renault may lead you to believe. The only 172 which will hit in the region of 172ps is the Cup version.

The Cup engines are all bench tested to guarantee a good engine, unlike the normal 172 which just has a normal engine chucked in. Obviously if you get a good one then great, but like all mass produced things some will be better than others.

The only 172 which ran at our RR day got 197bhp at the fly, but the operator forgot the 172 was on 16" rims so the calibration would of been wrong. At Nobles though the same car hit 167bhp, though it's modified with IK and a decent exhaust.

So at nobles he only hit 167bhp @ the fly?

I got told transmission loss on a clio was roughly 17%?? What loss did they use to get that figure?

The 17% makes my 144@wheels work out at 169 @the fly.

Did they give him an @the wheels figure?

I did know that the 172ps isnt 172 bhp and it should hit ~169. If so, im happy

Edited as i got a bit confused
