phone a local garage, they might be keen to get your service for a while, so do a good price on it, and you've got a bit of recorse if it turns out to be complete rubbish

hughlunnon@yahoo.com | I have sigs turned off..
Was sold yesterday anyway so that forget that one
I'm going to have to agree with the other suggestions made and recommend something with the VAG 1.8T engine. Really is a strong engine with loads of grunt, and tuning potential (if you're into that sort of thing). There are examples out there with 120K+ on the clock still going strong.
I've had my Octavia vRS since February now, and I find it a joy to drive no matter what type of driving it is, whether it be driving around town, on the motorway, or country roads. Sensible and fun.
Might be worth having a poke around briskoda.net

Audi A3? Your budget could ALMOST stretch to an S3 (225bhp ) is foy are willing to drop the "newer than 2000" bit. Then you get one hell of a car for little money.

No S3 for £6-7k. Noooo chance. Wouldn't pay less than about £10-15k for one with decent mileageOriginally Posted by hitman67

Have to say that I've never really understood this thing about so called 'womens cars'. I'd be quite happy to drive an MX5 or one of those little city cars in a pastel shade over say an Escort, old shape Mondeo etc Funky bebeh!Originally Posted by dangel

i want an s3 a cool version of the quattro tt
mx6 is a far nicer car than the mx5 but obv to totally diff cars but the mx6 rocks
As much as I'd like an S3, I could never justify spending so much more than a vRS or Leon, for something thats actually not that much better (imo of course). If you want the extra power, a remap will do the trick nicely or just get a Cupra R to begin with. Don't get me wrong, they're lovely cars, I just think they are way overpriced for what they are.Originally Posted by hitman67
are they 4wd? no. it makes a huge differnce, i belive the s3 has twin turbo too right>
but your right speed and that are much the same
