Neither, cheapest going will do me. £45 a tank is already enough to be spending.
full tank is about £39 for me. 60 litre tank

Optimax is still the better fuel. Why?
1) It's cheaper. Optimax is 79.9 where I am, Ultimate is 83.9
2) Optimax RON is higher. Optimax = >98, Ultimate = 97.
3) The MON of Optimax is very slightly higher on average.
Both fuels do the same with regards to cleaning the engine and help on emmissions.
The one good thing for Ultimate is that it's given me an alternative fuel should I be caught short of a Shell station, but it's still too blummin expensive when Optimax is so (comparatively) cheap.
btw lowe mate, what side of walsall do u live? the 1 closer to wolves or not? :E
Err, not that close to Wolves. Closer to Walsall.. I'm not that far out the town centre..

Seriously tho, scooter riders can be absolute w****rs. Sitting up my arse, looking at going around the outside on 30 mph roads. If there's one behind me I generally do everything as is reasonably safe to get in their way.
Been using Optimax for about 3 months now, it's 82.6p a litre here, compared to 76.9 for normal unleaded. So really it ain't that much more a tank, costs me about and extra £4 on a full tank in my Audi than normal unleaded.
Can't say I have noticed a great difference in performance, but it is a better fuel and supposed to be better for the engine, so that's good enough for me.

I just use normal petrol as my engine doesn't have a knock sensor so it is actually slower with optimax than unleaded, and I can't be arsed to adjust the ignition timing back to 4 star settings.
Have used optimax in the past though and the car is very smooth on it, and at 98 RON it should be better than the 97RON ultimate by allowing more ignition advance.

I own a PC that changes regularly, so I don't bother putting anything in here...
Not strictly true.Originally posted by hotpurple

RON is measured at about 500 RPM, or an engine's idling speed, MON is measured under high RPM and load. So, it's the MON rating which is important and lets you play around with advance since you're unlikely to get pinking at idle.
The difference between the two fuels MON rating is very, very small. Hence why I can use it even at 17psi boost and not pink my boobies off.
