...and some of us dont waste our own and other's time with unhelpful spam crap posts.
when i crashed mine, i was wearing leather gloves, helmet, jeans n a t-shirt, and somehow managed to walk away from a long slide at bout 40mph under the bike with only a bent rivet on my jeans and a numb arse. i was lucky. make sure you get decent safety gear. if i was you at 19, i'd wait till i was 21 IMHO, cos then you can get decent bikes instead of crappy underpowered things. peace.

A "Decent" show-room that you'll want can cost from anywhere between ~£3K (brand new DT125 par example) to maybe ~£1k - you really won't get one that hasn't been ridden into the floor below that price. Mine cost me £1500, and was in fairly good nick - Kawasaki KMX125. The easiest bikes to learn on are the more off-road oriented machines, as they usually have a bit of suspension travel to absorb nasty potholes and things, and have relatively small turning circles. The only disadvantage is if you're a short-arse, you may have trouble paddling it about, but most of them have spaghetti sprung rear shocks, so they squat a bit. If you don't want to go that route, a Yamaha SR125, Honda CG125 Suzuki GN125 etc are good solid learner bikes that won't bite you too hard if you're inexperienced - things like Cagivas and Aprilias are best left well alone until you can ride - it's a lot harder than it seems. The best learner I've EVER ridden tho, without a doubt is the Yamaha RXS100. You'll be hard pushed to find a decent road-worthy running one of them these days, and a machine in good decent repair is even harder to find, but if you can find one - get it, brilliant fun, feels fast as owt but isn't, the insurance is silly cheap (compared to a 125 - can be as much as £400 difference - it was for me) and they're about the most simple things mechanically ever. Brilliant

Sorry Agent. Well it all depends on how much u have to spend. If I was to buy a bike for my first I would deffo start with a 125 and work my way up ( though through experience u will be workin up pretty quickly ) maybe an aprillia rs125 or a cagiva mito 125 ( ducatti lookalike ) both very quick for what they are. Get yourself maybe a baby blade or a zxr400 if you wanna go for the more powerful option ( again very quick and not bad pricewise now )

Hehe, I still keep an eye out for 'em secondhand, I'm sure I could magic up a few hundred quid if I saw one going. Saw a picture of one being thrapped by a pizza delivery rider in the back of a magazine once, and he had it at about a 60 degree angle of lean . I really really want a Honda CB100 though, I can just see myself ragging along with my knee down on one of those. I haven't seen one for sale in years . Bikes like that don't look cool Agent, but they're cheap to buy and run, easy to work on, less likely to get pinched, and most importantly good fun to ride.

Remember though, because the European Commission is populated by overpaid, retarded, ****witted, ridiculous ****holes, you can't qualify for a full licence if you take your test on a 100 (or at least you couldn't last time I checked). The bike has to be between 120 and 125cc. Still, if you just took off the badge and painted RXS125 on the side, I doubt the examiner would know the difference.

    Rich :¬)
