Our Grandad wants CD and Tape in his dashboard

    Hi all,

My GF's Grandad has just got his shiny new Nissan Note and of course it's got a CD player, but being a man of traditional tastes he wants to play all his old tapes. He's also just gone and bought a few CDs, so we'd like to play both.

Easy you say, just put a changer in the boot! Nope I can guarantee you that a Boot mounted changer would last one trip to the golf club before it got a 9-iron through it's head. Also the concept of having to put the CD's in the boot would just baffle him. He wants something where you push the media into the dashboard, and sound comes out.

We found this Sanyo one, but can't actually find a shop selling it, only review sites. There also seem to be a few double height (2 din) stereos that used to exist, but again, I can only find old reviews on price comparison sites

    So my questions:
1: Can you get a CD and Tape in the same dashboard mounted stereo? (by get, I mean purchase in the UK)
2: Does a Nissan Note have space to fit a larger stereo than 1 din?

    Cheers for your help guys,

    Andrew.

PS Standard disclaimer, sorry if this is the wrong forum/channel for this question.

I would leave the car how it is, and rip the tapes onto cd.

Instead you could get a fm transmitter and portable tape player, which is what I do (except sub old dusty tape player for shiny new[ish] rio karma mp3 player)

    How big is the glovebox?

Only reason I ask is my Uncle in one of his cars had a similar predicament - except dogs rather than 9 irons - so he had the CD Changer installed into the glovebox. Is that an option?

Well found, that sort of thing would be perfect, as it's got very simple controls and no flashy-lights! I've found a few more double din ones from Sony on fleabay and around, but even second hand they're going for £100

I'm also pretty sure the Note has a double din space in the dashboard, so that's a start. Do you think it would be worth asking a Nissan dealer if they do a CD and cassette head unit?
