Very true about the battery life...as faster dual-core phones roll in though, you wonder how much more lastability will take a hit, though...
The Desire for £15pm is a very nice deal, a friend of mine has one, great phone.

Is there a reason you haven't considered the BB Bold series?
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz, 2 GB DDR2, 500GB SATA-II 7200RPM, nVidia GeForce 9800GT 512mb, BenQ E2200 HD, BenQ G2412HD, Logitech S510 Wireless set, Creative GigaWorks T3 Speakers.
Both will do the job. I did read blackberry are releasing an update to the Torch so it might be worth waiting to see that. If I had to get a BB it would be 9780.
One thing Nokia and Blackberry have over most Android handsets is when you recieve a call you have a green button. You're not swishing your finger left to right trying to get it to unlock. It is little things like that that make the big difference.
HTC Wildfire it is.... very nearly went for the San Fran, but HTC was calling my name!! Lot to get used to after my old Nokia, and a few irritations already, but I'm sure I'll get used to it!!
Thanks for all the advice everyone
I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.
I presume you wont be rooting it and dropping a custom ROM on there?
I do rather love my Wildfire, only had it a week
Why would you rule out the iphone just because you have an ipod touch? I doubt you will find any extra features in an of the smart phones that the iphone4 does not have, and you will be used to the menus from the fact you've owned an apple for a while now. I have a blackberry and hate it. Internet access is appauling, keys are really small and laid out in an un-ergonomic way. Iphone is so much more intuitive.
If you really do not want two apple products, i would go with the new HTC.
Nokia C3 touch and type is a nice phone with good features. Nokia X3-02 offers both 2G and 3G, good touch screen but the battery is not as good as Nokia offers in its hand sets. BlackBerry is a really good option and BlackBerry Curve 8520 is a smartphone which every business entity will desire to have. BLACKBERRY Pearl 9105 is a very light phone weighing only 93.6 grams.
Go for Symbian or Android..blcakberry is old now
