    Corsair HX620W Humming noise

    Hi,

My Corsair HX620W recently started making, well the only way to describe it is a humming noise.

It's on and off, almost like it's the fan making the sound, however, sometimes I can hear it and sometimes I can't but when I can hear it, it is rather loud and distracting. If it's just the fan I guess I'll just have to put up with it, but if anyone thinks it's signs of anything else, like perhaps failing then I'd appreciate any input.

Have you ever cleaned your PSU with compressed air? If not, you may want to try that. If the noise becomes an issue, we'll replace the unit if it is still under warranty.

No I haven't, I've put the vac to it a few times, but it never really does too well, it's not too clever, I'll pick up a tin of compressed air over the weekend. Not sure if it's in warranty, I've had it 4 years or so.

    The HX620 has a 5 year warranty.

    See here.

RMA'ing it to Corsair isnt cheap though, it has to go to holland.

Vacuum cleaners and computers dont mix, compressed air is always the best option.

Word of advice though, if it involves a fan, use something to stop it spinning whilst you blast the air off it.
