    Unhappy Need Help From Someone With a 3D Printer

    Hi Hexus-ers,

    Pretty self explanatory title. If anyone has a 3D printer I'd really like one of these:

    http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:133833

    Not anything special I admit, but trying to find anywhere that sells a PCI bracket that I can mount a 3.5" HDD to is impossible (Unless I go Alibaba and get 2000 of the things). 2.5" I can find, but my HDD is 3.5".

    So, any volunteers? Of course I can pay postage and costs (Assuming they're reasonable )
    If the Earth is a sphere how do you travel to the ends of it?

    Re: Need Help From Someone With a 3D Printer

    I could 3D print that but not before a little tweaking to the design - which I can also do but I'm insanely busy at the moment so I'll have to get back to you on that.

    My main concern is that the bracket printed with a traditional 3D printer would be inherently weak at the joint between the rear and bottom plate, i.e. between the bit that attaches to the chassis and the plate that holds the drives, which won't fare well resisting the moment from the weight of the drives. Adding some gusseting to that joint should do the trick.

    EDIT: As I'm holed up in a hotel room 200 miles away from my 3D printer and bored, here's a quick and dirty edit of the original design, an idea of what I've got in mind;

    Wow

    The only slight problem is those support arms might clash with the HDD (See: http://thingiverse-production-new.s3...w_featured.jpg). However, I could just mount it lower on the frame (Certainly plenty of holes for me to mount it with, or even make my own!).

    DDY, I appreciate your busy-ness (Same place myself, though only a mere 150 miles from home!) It's not a rush job here so I'm perfectly willing to be patient.

    Just knowing it might be possible to get one made is great!

    Nothing to worry about, that was considered too. My sketch above has a slightly longer bottom plate to accommodate the gussets, for comparison sake the original;
