Quiet Blower and Fan configuration - mini project

    guys,

I asked a while ago about the possiblity of a fan replcament for an HP LP1000R

I got little response, which to be honest I expect, its a dull topic and documentation is limited.

    however,

I've now found some better docs....with photos this time.

It would appear the two main "noise sources" are

1.) two small fans on the fan assembly which I need to replace with quite versions.

2.) the blower which is enclosed in a plastic channel (the channel is not pictured)

Does anyone have any advice for Fans to replace the two fans the the blower the same version product, just as quiet as possible.

How to minimise the noise in the blower once its envlosed in the plastic channel that guides air over the CPU's ?

Here is a nice link with some info and photos on the server.

    thanks

    Juding by the photos,

I may remove the blower all together, replace the tall heat sinks with perhaps two Akasa AK-350 Low Profile CPU Cooler (one on each CPU)

What do people think of this ? would this offer the same/better/worse cooling than the tall heat syns with the blower blowing air over them ?

You gotta remember that those fans do two jobs; they pull cool air over the Drives as well as push it over the heat sink.

Are you using the PCI slot? Just wondering about using one of those PIC exchaust fan things?
