    The Quest for Silence...

Well, I got rid of my noisey, but still fairly quiet XP2400 with it's numerous fans, and the hard drive was quieter than the fans...

I then got an M10000 because I thought I'd be able to make it quiet... now today, I stuck a Zalman Copper flower on the cpu, so that it's passively cooled, and yes this has made a big difference to the noise levels... (the same as codebunny did here: http://www.codebunny.org/tech/image/drmatt.jpg ) - but now, the hard drive (WD800AB) is noticably noisey , and the power supply that comes with the Venus 668 seems to whistle slightly....

so next... i'll either have to get a seagate baracuda hard drive / or a laptop hard drive (are they quieter than normal hard drives?) ... and then i'll notice the whistling of the power supply even more... and then I'll have to figure out something else to do to make it quiet...

and then i'll have to try and make my 2 other computers silent too..

so basically, the quest for silence... it never seems to end!

    Josh

    - a thought - can you run smoothwall off a CF Card (with a CF>IDE adapter) ?
