cf do it with a better range and for less.

Not in it to make a low cost LCD? No money in this? Okay. I'm now satisfied that you should be baned from anything but sandbox languages.

I've just bought 5 LCDs from this guy on ebay:

I'll let you know how this turns out, might be a bit large, but you could easily devide each screan into 4 sections.

Shame the cf software is terrible..

I suggest you look at some basic economics if you want to take a tone like that...

Gordy, i sugest you look at your nearest DAB radio, or your car, or your calculator, or your microwave.

edit, why is this going so far off topic, it dosen't matter at all that i think MO are crap. It dosen't matter one little bit that you think their not. Their not going to be any use for this project.

exactly animus, MO (or any "modding" supplies companies that i know of for that matter) will do LCDs that small, so you guys can stop being so fanboyistic now

as for using capacitive sensing, it is an option, but i just prefer the feel of a good switch.

if i decide to go the route of capacitive sensing, i will probabally just buy a small touch screen monitor

as for how much i am planning to spend on this, between £50 and £300

hmm, http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSear...=5005530&N=401 been looking at, if that link dosen't work order code is: 5005530

Now as for the mechanical device to mount this on, i'd be tempted to keep it simple because of my inability to even use a comptuer controlled milling machine well, i'd say use 4 push to make switches, with the LCD mounted on them, with a switch in each corner, not only would that be very easy to make, but it would mean that you could have "directional" control, that is, 4 sensors per LCD. As for the LCDs i'd whack some RGB led's behind it.

As for connecting them, i'd use a whole bunch of PICs, certian 16 series have a PSP (Parallel slave Port) which makes it easy to make a BUS to controll 20 displays. This would be the only real way of doing it with out imense strain on the host pc.

It would be a cool project, i'm not sure how good the LCD's i've linked are (how easily you can backlight them) but the price is good, i wouldn't go out and buy 20 just yet thou.
