If you have it plugged in you don't need the batteries at all. Funny story, when I first got the wheel I didn't notice the adapter in the box, I was using it on batteries. Whilst playing the Forza 2 demo I was speaking to a mate who was also on the wheel and I was saying how great the feedback felt through the wheel. He then started talking about how it locks when you slide around corners and such and I thought hmmm, mine doesn't seem to do that. To which he said do you have your wheel plugged in? To which I said; eh?
Dug out the adapter and oh boy. I thought it was good before that but it's a whole other wheel when you have it plugged in, the thing comes to life I tell ya!
