Microsoft has http://live.xbox.com/member/ followed by the XBOX live tag to show your player profile on the web for others to see, does Nintendo have the same thing and if so can someone advise me if its possible to do the same link through thing as XB live please?

As Far as I know there isn't anything like that by nintendo. I did come across another site that you can sign up to and put in your friend code and it is building a wii online database with your friend codes. If I can find the link again i'll post it.
At the moment, AFAIK, there's nothing official to spread your Wii friend code.
The problem with the friend code is that both parties have to enter the codes before you can so much as even send a message. Which means that If I add your friend code to my Wii, you wouldn't know unless I told you, but I wouldn't be able to do anything with that friend code (or know that I could do anything with it) unless you added me and then told me. It just seems a bit of a pain to initially sort out.
Edit: Actually, I think a sticky with other users Friend codes would be useful.

The friend code is different to the Wii number. The friend code is for online games. I found the website.. www.wiiwashere.com
