    disc read errors

    Hello,

just wondered if any of you ever get disc read errors, and if you get them on certain games?

Since picking up Forza 2 last Thurs, I've had it crash 3 or 4 times on loading. Sometimes you notice the music skipping repeatedly, and other times, you get the error message saying "disca cannot be read".

Luckily there are no "scratch rings" on the disc.

This has only happened with Forza 2, so wasn't sure if the disc itself is a bit faulty...

The xbox 360 is in the vertical position and was bought in October 06.

    My System: Coolermaster Centurion 5 (black) case, Intel E6750 Core2Duo, Tagan Easy-Con 530W, Asus P5B Deluxe WIFI, OCZ 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 CL 4-4-4-15 PLATINUM XTC, Samsung SpinPoint 200Gb SATA2 / 2 x Maxtor DiamondMax 10 200Gb SATA, 256Mb Sapphire ATI PCI-E X1950PRO, Creative X-Fi Xtreme 7.1, 19" Daewoo W9ZQ Black Widescreen TFT, 4Mb Virgin Cable Broadband (formerly Blueyonder) with Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G and DD-WRT firmware.

well its going to be a faulty disk or drive, if its just the one game then take it back and ask for a new disk. or email the support addy and they may send you a new one once you scan and email proof of ownership?

I sometimes get problems with Forza 2 as well, if I pause in a race and then resume, sometimes the disk has problems picking up where it left off, and I often get left with disappearing track.

I also get this with Forza 2 - a few times it has just froze on loading and other times it has came up with the dirty disc error whilst during a race.

I wonder whether I should ask for a straight exchange. I got it new, for £10, at Blockbuster cos I traded in GRAW 2.

That hopefully shouldn't affect the returns policy too much. If it does, I'll do as Gonzo says and go direct.

Just wait or fast travel a lot. It autosaves before you perform any of these actions.

After I have been playing Dead Rising for about an hour I get a disc read error usually, quite annoying must admit if you are halfway through a mission. Dirt on the other hand runs fine, played it for 3 hours non stop yesterday morning and not one crash at all.

Literally must be down to the manufacturing process is the way I'm seeing it. Mind you I managed to get my console updated the other day to the latest dashboard from a written disc on my PC, havn't tried Dead Rising for more than 20 mins so the update may have actually sorted it. Need to sit down and have a longer go on it to test.

I have had this with gears of war but only after finishing the game. I couldnt even get to play it again, as after loading up I would always get a disc error. I ended up getting a refund
