    Desert Island Gaming

im shortly to go to the Maldives for 2 weeks and have a trusty 80gb ipod and up till now a GBA SP
I am a regular WoW/Eve vet and fancy some gaming when I am away.
I think im gonna buy a DS - but what games - any tips?

IM thinking a Worms game, a Super Mario game and a Brain game - input or advice would be welcomed

Defo Super Mario 64 for DS!
    Final Fantasy too maybe.

I've got Worms (On the DS ) and it's not that great TBH.

Dr Kawashima's Brain Training is a good one that I keep going back to, and Mario is ace - the mini games are excellent (though admittedly better in 2 player mode).

Fishcake Jnr loves Burnout Takedown but it doesn't really do it for me. Such fast movement on such a small screen bewilders me!

    Re: Desert Island Gaming

Worms DS was just a cheap port - its not a good game. As has been mentioned Advance Wars is excellent, but only if you like strategy games obviously.

Im suprised no-ones mentioned Mario Kart yet, perhaps that just goes without saying.

Elite Beat Agents, New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart DS, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Advanced Wars: Dual Strike.

If you want a good puzzler then Picross DS as well.

Those are all great games if you like their genres. However, Id only recommend Mario 64 if you didnt play the original - not a lot thats new and a slightly dodgy control mechanism TBH.

And where do you reckon is the best/cheapest place to buy the games??

    Re: Desert Island Gaming

Well I've not played Dawn of Sorrow (Isn't out until the end of this month in the UK is it?) but the previous Castlevania on the DS (Portrait of Ruin) was great, and DoS has higher review scores, so it would seem the one to go for once its out.

Personally I'd get your stuff from Gameplay.co.uk. Here's a post I made yonks ago (2004) detailing why.

Wrong way round, Dawn of Sorrow came before Portrait of Ruin, Dawn of Sorrow is a kind of sequel to Aria of Sorrow on the GBA.
